Michelle Obama

So...  Michelle Obama came to visit Vicenza during her European tour.  She wanted to do a book reading with 1st-3rd graders so Whitney received  a special invitation to participate.

Venice

Jeremy booked a hotel in Venice for Friday night to celebrate Father's Day.  The Michelle Obama  thing made me 2 hours late so we already got off to a late start.

We finally found our hotel but were SOOOO disappointed to find out that Michelle Obama and her entire staff were also staying at the same hotel.  Not only did that mean security boats all over in the water making it difficult to even get into the hotel and the hotel was crawling with Americans that travel with her, but the worst part was that they closed the roof top infinity pool and sky bar down for their own private party.  This was the primary reason why we paid extra for this hotel.  Needless to say... it was a total disappointment!

On the plus side - Venice in the morning was delightful!  I loved the energy and liveliness of  watching the cruise ships getting ready to leave and all the local shops setting up for the day.  This is a part of Venice that we never see when just coming for the day.  I enjoyed just taking it all in and did not even get my camera out to take more than just a couple of pictures.

We made it home safe and sound and in time to celebrate Fathers Day with the 3 best kids in the world!!  They sure are lucky to have such a wonderful Father!!!  We love you Jeremy!

Week 34

End of the Year!!!

Last music performance of the year.  Whitney learned how to play the steel drum!

 

Last day of school.  This was the best I could get.  No one wanted to pose for pictures this morning!

To celebrate the last day of school we went to eat at a restaurant the kids have been begging to try ever since we got here!

So proud of Aiden who finished the year with STRAIGHT A's all 4 quarters!!!

Connor didn't get straight As but he did work hard this year.  He has made good friends and adapts to change so well. 

This has not been an easy year for my little Whitbit!  I'm so proud of her for still wearing a smile all year and accepting the changes she had to make at such a young age. 

Ahhh.... summer!  The kids are all still asleep and I get to enjoy this beautiful view in the peaceful quiet!

They served food under this huge tent but it felt like 100+ degrees so everyone just ate as fast as they could so we could get out of there!

Afterwards we enjoyed watching the beautiful dancers put on a performance

Week 33

Our new Aupair just arrived from Czech Republic!  Her and Whitney are already BFFs! :)

Summer

The kids are still in school but it is HOT!!  We went to the lake one day after school with some friends.  It was a nice break from the heat.

Jeremy took the kids out of school one day to go to the beach.  It was about an hour drive from our house.  There weren't a lot of people there since all the Italians are still in school but I can imagine it gets pretty crowded once school's out!

Our kids were the only ones covered from head to toe in sand but they had so much fun!

Food Truck Festival

We heard everyone talking about the Food Truck Fest in Padova so we decided to check it out.  Loud music, lots of food, good people watching... it was a fun night!

All the concerts coming this summer!  I know which one Jeremy wants to go to!

My phone died right after this picure before I could get a picture with Anna.  Anna came to say hi to us and to meet our new Aupair.  It was great to see her!!
