Fasching 2012

Fasching is a pretty big deal in Europe. They celebrate all month long but even more on Fat Tuesday! Whitney dressed up for kindergarten as usual. She must have at least 20 different costumes to choose from but she only wanted to wear this batman cape this year. Being the girly girl that she is I was surprised she didn't go with one of her fairy or princess costumes.

On the way to school she suddenly got very self-conscious about her costume and refused to wear it. So, Kayla wore it instead.

After getting to school and seeing all the other kids in costumes, including her BFF (who will NEVER look at the camera for a picture!) she decided it was ok to wear the cape again. lol!

The weather was beautiful this week and Olja took some great pictures of the 2 of them at the park.

I don't know who is going to cry harder when Olja leaves... the kids or ME!!!

My little baby looks so grown up here! I love her at age 4. I wish she could stay here forever.

Ski Week

Saturday was the beginning of ski week 2012!!! 3 years in a row we've gone to the same place in the German Alps for a full week of skiing! By the time this year came around everyone was more than excited. We know the routine now, we know what to expect, so there's no stress, just fun!

After the 4 hour drive, that turned into 9 hours!!! We finally made it time for our usual dinner at Zuggy's!

The next morning the kids enjoyed hot chocolate on the balcony while we watched a huge blizzard right in our backyard. We were thrilled to see all the giant flakes falling knowing it would make for a great week of skiing!

First item of business: had to go play in the snow right away! Germany has had such an unusually warm winter and we really only had 1 day of snow to play in this year so the kids were frothing at the mouth to get out there right after breakfast!

Second item of business: skis, boots, poles, etc... for everyone! Such a process!! This was Whitney's first year of skiing. After watching her brothers go through all this for the last 2 years she knew the drill and couldn't wait to get fitted with her gear.

Third item of business: Pool and hot tub! The kids were bummed that we got in so late the night before that there was no time for swimming. So, as soon as we got all the ski supplies for ski school in the morning we hit the pools!

Jeremy also got to relax in the hot tub. Nice way to spend your birthday!! Jeremy has also celebrated his birthday here for the last 3 years.

Pullman Place for Jer's birthday dinner

Happy Birthday Sweetie!!
