First day of school!!!
Whitney started back at her German Kindergarten this week. We weren't going to start sending her to Kindergarten until the boys went back to school but her very best friend, Lizzy, started school already and hates to go if Whitney isn't there.
I love this picture because you can see Lizzy looking through the glass doors to see if Whitney is coming!!
Whitney doesn't seem too impressed with Lizzy's new shoes!! haha!
Lizzy has to read the book to Whitney because it's all in German. So cute!!
Every Wednesday the entire Kindergarten goes to the forest for the whole day. The kids pack lunches and pads to sit on for the day. When they have to go #1 or #2 they just pull down their pants and go in the grass. It sounds so fun!!! They have to wear hats because ticks are a huge problem here in Germany.
Schwimmen!!!
Summer finally came to Germany and we have been making up for lost time by going swimming as often as possible!
This is the Schwimmbad in Schwetzigen. I was soooooo mad at myself for leaving my camera in the car so I made the kids take pics outside afterwards. This was the first pool that we've been to here in Germany that had diving boards. It was so fun watching both of the boys getting the courage to go off the diving boards for the first time and then going over, and over, and over, and over again!
Scouts
The first scouting activity was this week. It was fun to see all of our old scouting buddies again as well as meeting some new ones!
Whitney looking so "summery" in her swimsuit top playing at the park while the boys were heavily engaged in their scouting activities in the background.
Whitney taking pics of me at the playground.
Badminton
Volleyball
Group photo's. Whitney wanted to be in the picture so bad.
Potluck dinner
Singing around the campfire. We are so excited for scouts this year!!
Viernheim Schwimmbad
We have lived here for over 2 years and have never got to this pool. Crazy!!! It's only 10 minutes from our house!!
This is what Whitney looks like the entire time that she swims without her life jacket. Her face is barely out of the water and she has a HUGE smile the whole time!!
The wavy slide. Jeremy and I both had our turns too. So fun!
Daddy's girl!
There was a triatholon the day we went here so the diving boards were closed off. The boys were forced to go on the slide a hundred times instead. They had so much fun though!!
Huttenfeld Fest
Huttenfeld had their annual fest this week. It was exactly like the last 2 years which made it fun because we totally knew what to expect! It was also fun because we actually know people now and felt like 'locals' here. Friends were there to greet us and we had so, so much fun!

I promise this is just apfelsaft!!
After spending at least 100 euro's in less than an hour at the fest it was so fun to watch Lizzy and Whitney having soooo much fun just playing at the Burgerhaus park for FREE! You can see the fest in the background but they didn't care. This is the same park they play at just about everyday but couldn't be happier than they were right here! I am so thankful that Whitney has found such a good friend here.
We finished off the great week with having wonderful friends over that we haven't seen for so long! It was so good to have their family over.
It was funny to see Simon (age 3) playing Mario Kart. He kept calling it "Auto Spiel" (car game). He got really good, really fast. I am guessing it's his German blood that makes him a natural-born driver. He was addicted to this game the entire time he was here. It was so cute!
His little brother was addicted to Kayla. He was so cute with her.
It was a fun, busy, full week and we all loved it! One more week until the boys are back in school so we are going to make the best of it and enjoy every last minute of Summer that we can!!

Whitney's going to a German kindergarten? That's really cool. Does she have any German going into it? Does the class have any English component or is it designed for native-born Germans.
Just curious -- I'm big into language immersion programs. :-)
Hi Heather,
The school is ALL German. Her best friend's mom is American and her Dad is German, but she can speak English. Also, one of the teachers speaks a little English. But that is it. She went there all last year too knowing a few German words before-hand, but not much. BTW - the German kindergartens are really just the equivalent to our preschools. It's really just play time, not really any "teaching" that goes on. ALL Germans send their kids at age 3 - the government pays it and it is expected that all kids go.
