We are so proud of him!!

Western Mediterranean Cruise

This weekend started our 7-day Cruise!!!

Genoa, Civitavecchia/Rome, Palermo/Sicily, Valletta/Malta, Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Marseille

Off we go!!
All Aboard!!
The MSC Preziosa

They sent us straight to the buffet for lunch after getting on the boat - no complaints from us!!
One of our rooms.  We had to get 2 rooms since we have 5 people.
Exploring the ship and looking for some pools!
Just like our cruise in 2011, Whitney did not want to get out of the pool for the mandatory safety briefing! lol!!

Safety briefing in 2011 :)
Bon Voyage!!!
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!

When we went on our last cruise - 5 years ago we met a wonderful family who we spent the whole week with!  They are from Spain but lived in London.   We went to visit them in London after the cruise and they came to visit us in Germany.  After we moved back to the US, they moved to Luxembourg and we lost touch with each other.

On our way to Genoa to board the ship we talked the whole way of memories of our last cruise and how sad we were that we lost touch with our dear friends. We also laughed at how funny it would be if they just happened to be on the same cruise again!!!

Well......  IT HAPPENED!!!!!

Cruise 2011
Cruise 2016
We both agreed that we were brought together so we could reunite and never lose touch again!
First night at dinner!  We all looooved the fancy feasts served to us every single night!!!

Day 2: Civitavecchia and Rome
We ported in Civitacecchia and found a 10 passenger van to take both of our families into Rome for the day.

There was a marathon going on in Rome
Circus Maximus.  This field used to be used for chariot races and gladiator fights beginning in the 6th century BC!
Today it is being used as the end of the marathon.  Crazy!

We had to get through all of the runners going in the opposite direction

We made it to the colloseum

Filling up our water bottles

We actually bought tickets online ahead of time but the line for people WITH tickets was still WAAAAY too long.  Apparently it rained all day the day before and rain was predicted for most of the rest of the week so EVERYONE came to Rome on our one day there.

Lunch

Cannoli's and Gelato for dessert

Trevi Fountain

The crowds!!!

St. Peter's Square, Vatican

St. Peter's Basilica

The kids were in their own world playing Paper, Rock, Scissors

They had red hands afterwards as proof!

Getting back on the ship

Ready to go on the big slide for the first time!
This is a new addition from our last cruise so the kids were very excited!!
Aiden

Connor

Jeremy - yes, he was excited too! :)

Whitney was just happy hanging out at the warm infinity pool... and so was I! :)

I loved watching these guys act like little kids again at the Aqua Park!

chilling in the hot tubs after playing hard!

Aiden loved all the seafood!

There was a major celebration in the dining room to introduce the Tiramisu for dessert!

Jeremy looks very skeptical! haha!

And there it is!  YUM!!

Then the celebration got a little crazier!!  They formed a train!

This is what all the fuss was about!  Sooooo  worth it!

Whitney loved watching the sun sets!  She always begged to go out and watch them after dinner every night.

The wind was SO STRONG this night.  We could barely walk!!

We spent quite a bit of time (and money) in the arcade this week

The nightly shows were so fun to watch every night

Whitney watched them with the kids club - not all of the kids could stay awake all the way to the end!

So far, so good!!

To be continued on the next post....
