W3 of Y3

Halloween

This year we really wanted to figure out how the locals trick or treat.
One of our neighbors invited us to go with her.  It was definitely interesting!!

Whitney wore an old costume of one of the boys.  I couldn't talk Connor or Aiden into coming - which they were probably too old anyway... :(

Whitney and the 3 other 9-year olds who spoke a mile per minute to Whitney and I even though we didn't understand anything.
Every house we went to they introduced Whitney as the American. lol!

We learned that Italians only go to houses of people the know.
The bad part about that is that you have to walk a long way in between each house.

The other disadvantage to trick or treating in Italy is that everyone has locked gates preventing anyone from being able to knock on the front doors.  The kids had to ring the bell and if they were home they would say Ciao through the intercom.  Then the kids would say "Caramello" (candy).

There were a couple houses that went all out with decorations.  But most of them would just have a single pumpkin or ghost so you knew it was ok to ring the bell.

The one's that didn't answer were sad! :(

We saw large groups of kids also out trick or treating and we were wondering where all these kids were last year!!
We only got 1-2 kids that came to our door last year!

It's hard to tell but this house was seriously creepy.  The man wore a Jason or Michael Myers mask and followed the kids around with a long knife.
I was surprised Whitney even went inside!

It was a really fun night.  One advantage was that Whitney really doesn't like most of the candy she got.  There was a bunch of coffee flavored candy, lots of little hard candies, and then even a couple of liquor filled chocolates!  Sooo....  she wasn't up all night eating candy, which was good!!

Chiefs

We ended the week in our favorite way....  Watching the Chiefs game together!

I guess the kids didn't come to your house last year for trick or treating because they didn't know you!
