Chiefs vs. Patriots
The final game to see who goes to the Super Bowl just happened to be playing at 4am while we were in Israel! We woke up just in time to nervously and breathlessly catch the final score....
| The score when we woke up. We were ecstatic!!! Only 37 seconds left and we were winning!!!!! |
Within those 37 seconds we were tied at 31-31 and went into overtime. The Patriots won the coin toss and scored.
That was the end of the game. So. Depressing! |
Ceasarea
We decided to try to cheer up by visiting the old capital of Judaea - Ceasarea! A city known and loved by the entire civilized world. Built by King Herod before Christ was born! This was a thriving city with a lot of wealth.
| The best smile that Jeremy could muster |
| The church |
| Marble still partially buried |
| The fountain in the middle of the city |
| Oil lamps |
| Old money found buried in the water |
| Beautiful Frescoes throughout |
| These rooms were offices.. this one they said was for paying taxes....? |
| This was a very fancy bathhouse. Before bathing, people would exercise and then get a shave, haircut, cosmetic treatment or a massage. This was also a common place to hold meetings. |
| More offices |
| Granite from Italy in front of the oldest Amphitheater still standing east of the Mediterranean |
| The Hippodrome - intended to be like Rome and used for Olympic games |
| A good portion of the city is still under the water |
| Stopped to get some comfort food to cheer us up from the game |
| Jeremy was still depressed :( |
| But at least we still had this beautiful view! |
| Walking back along the coast. It was upper 60's the whole time we were there, sunny, and beautiful!! |
| Time to drive back to the airport... we were wondering was the eye in the sky was up ahead..... ? |
| Left over shekels |
| You can't tell from this picture but we had an amazing view of the sunset on our flight back to Italy. |
This was an unforgettable trip!
I'm so grateful that I got to spend it with my best friend and husband of 19 years!
