Braces!!

Today we learn what it's like to get braces.  Aiden is the first person in our family to ever have to get them.  Not sure what we are in for.

Last picture of Aiden before braces!!
So far, so good.   He's still smiling!!

SNOW!!!

It finally snowed in Vicenza.  We all wished for it over the Christmas break and it never came.  The kids were thrilled to have a 2-hour delay in school because of snow!!  They got to play in it a little before school.

Off to school they go!
Modena, Italy

Jeremy and I celebrated our 17-year anniversary with a little get-away to Modena, Italy.  Poor Jeremy was sick and we almost cancelled the trip but he insisted on going.

Looking for a place to eat dinner.  So many quaint, charming restaurants.... so little time!

We were so happy to find a Latin American restaurant.  It's nice to try something different from traditional Italian food. This place did NOT disappoint!!
Looking for our apartment

We found it!

Traditional Italian breakfast

Everyone is just waking up outside our apartment
Jeremy booked a tour for us at a Balsamic Vinegar farm.  Here they grow their own grapes, age them, and produce several varieties of Balsamic Vinegar.  This farm has been producing vinegar since 1871! It was fascinating to learn about this process and to taste the different types of vinegar.

The key to properly aged vinegar is using very old barrels of different types of wood.  These barrels were from the 1600-1700's!

The smaller the barrels the older the vinegar

Our first tasting.  Vinegar aged 15 years.

30 year old vinegar

150 year old Vinegar!  We tasted one aged 100 years.

We got back in time to enjoy sledding with some friends before all the snow is gone!

So fun you got snow, and got in some sledding! I keep looking at my hill and wishing your kids were here to sled down it. Poor Aiden, I thought his teeth looked nice. Now he matches Sydney!
