Spring Break 2019

This year we had invitations to go to a 1-year old birthday party in Serbia so, of course we went!
One of our Au Pairs, Olja, married a great guy from India where they now live.
They came to back to Serbia to celebrate their son's first birthday with her parents.

On the road!

We split the drive up and stayed in Slovenia for the first night.
There was no where to eat in the village where we stayed so we ended up having hotel pizza and water for dinner.
I had to laugh at the bear essentials that Whitney packed in her suitcase!

The next morning we went down to breakfast and found these interesting characters!  Keep in mind, this is before 7am and they are singing for the entire hotel.
The guy whose leg you can see is sound asleep but supposedly is the best trumpet player in Slovenia! lol!
Of course Jeremy bonded with them immediately.

We finally got to Serbia right in time for the birthday party!
Sremski Karlovci, Serbia

Trying to find the birthday party.

Apparently this is the place to be for the locals.  So much activity going on the square.

Hmmm.... I wonder who the Americans are in this picture!

So, we thought the party was at Olja's parents house.  However, it was at a very nice restaurant with a lot of Olja's friends and family.
Even her family from India flew in for this party!  We suddenly felt very underdressed and way too casual!
We sat down and people just kept bringing us food.

Denis - the birthday boy!!

Olja's husband, Mukul.  It was so nice to get to know him a little bit.

Everyone was very intrigued about the taser that Aiden bought at the square right before.

This was a really fun party and welcome into Serbia!

Novi Sad, Serbia

After the party we set off to find our house that Jeremy booked.
On the way to our house for the week we spotted this local with a giant knife cutting weeds by the road...  totally normal!

We made it to our house.  Jeremy did a great job finding this place for us!

The back of the house

This was disappointing... on the website, they advertise a hot tub and outdoor BBQ area.
However, they were both closed up so we couldn't use them.
The master bath was nice though.  A jacuzzi tub and sauna.

The view of the Danube River from our back yard.

Looking forward to a great week!
