Last Day of School!!!
The kids got out of school at noon and then had an end of the year potluck. They all made so many good friends this year. It was fun to watch them all play one last time.

Aiden and the girl he's had a crush on all year. (yes, she's a 5th grader!)
We celebrated their first no-school day by going to see Cars 2

Let the summer fun begin!!

My parents and my Aunt & Uncle (my Dad's sister) came to visit!!

The kids all love my Aunt Shirley and Uncle Philip as much as I did as a kid (and I still do!! )

The first thing on their list of "things to do" was to eat Schnitzel. So we did!

Here they are playing on the German exercise machines. Don't they just look like tourists!?!
Munich
We drove down to Munich on our way to Bavaria and had to stop at Hofbrauhaus on the Marienplatz.

It was early when we got there (5-ish) but it was packed! People were yelling out, signing, chanting, etc... it felt like we were right in the middle of Octoberfest.

Pig knuckles and potato dumplings all around!

Dampfnudels with vanilla sauce for dessert

Then... it happened! Everything was going so well until we tried to leave and the battery in my van was dead. Apparently, you can't leave things plugged into BOTH adapters.

While I was trying to get a hold of ADAC Shirley and my Mom decided to play on an old witch's broomstick that they found inside the garage.

The battery wouldn't take a charge and the van had to be towed away. What a mess! I had to leave all 4 of them in the parking garage until after midnight when I finally returned with the rental car. Downtown Munich at midnight on a Saturday night was a pretty exciting time!

FINALLY... we made it to the resort!!

Everything was looking better the next morning. We were about to have a great time in Bavaria!

That night in the parking garage is one of our best memories! Munich will always be cherished in our hearts!
