Agriturismo
Agriturismo is something that we've found to be unique to Italy.
Literally, it is a combination of agriculture and tourism. They are usually old farm houses or something similar with rooms and a restaurant that serves food/beverages that they make on sight.
They are always very charming and give you an authentic feel of the local area.
Jeremy and I decided that once a quarter we are going to stay at a different Agriturismo for a night away. There are so many, just within an hour or less of us, that we could stay at a different one every quarter for as long as we are here and never stay at the same one twice.
It's a real shame that we haven't been taking advantage of this more often!
SO... this quarter we stayed at San Mattia in the Valpolicella region of Verona
| We had a 4-course meal that was delicious. However, THIS was the best part of the meal! Pumpkin Risotto! |
| Breakfast in the morning |
| The view of Verona from the farm house. |
| Locally made wines and olive oil |
| homemade jams and honey |
| We decided to take a tour of a winery close by on our way home - Alligrini Esates |
| The estate was built in 1560 |

| Lots of faces all over the estate |
| Original fresco. Very rare! |
