Living in Italia

When we tell people in the U.S. that we live in Italy, they usually say something like "oh, that sounds rough!" or "Wow!  That is so awesome!"  

For the most part, we really do love it here.  However, there are things about living in Italy that just get under your skin!  Things that you would never see in the U.S. 

For example....

We paid out last electric bill in August.  Unlike in the U.S. bills do not come at regular, predictable times.  Out electric bill usually comes every 2-3 months and then we pay it, just like we always have - ON TIME for the last 3+ years!  

Since our last bill was paid in August, our next one should have come sometime between October and November.  Well, we didn't get a bill and yet, this week our power was shut off for 2 days - without warning - because our bill was late! 

No notice, no apologies, NOTHING!

Good thing we had plenty of firewood!

The kids actually thought it was really fun! 

On the other hand....

Living in Italy gives you the opportunity to drive 5 minutes from your house to do a photo shoot at a Venetian Villa built in 1764.  Amazing!

The best part of this photo shoot (other than the location) was that it was only 15 minutes long.  Not hours!  They did 10 families in a total of 2 hours.  Each family got 15 minutes and 10 pictures.
